Arrest Made In Mailbox Thefts

Omaha Police have arrested a man wanted for several thefts and damage to several residential cluster-style mailboxes in the Standing Bear and Linden Estates neighborhoods.

32-year-old Jeremy Jakub was found near 72nd and Grover Tuesday, where he attempted to flee law enforcement twice that day.

Jakub's car collided with a postal inspector's vehicle during his second attempt to get away.  He was caught after a brief foot pursuit and booked for four felony charges,  including possession of financial transaction devices, possession of burglar tools, criminal mischief over $5,000 and operating a motor vehicle to avoid arrest.

Police say Jakub may be a suspect in other criminal activity not associated with the mailbox thefts.  Police continue their search for two other suspects they saw are involved in the thefts.
