A child that was playing with a lighter sparked a fire early Monday morning.
Omaha Fire officials say the blaze broke out just after 1:00 at the Legacy Crossing Apartments near 106th and Ellison. The flames were contained to one basement apartment.
One adult was able to get two children, ages four and one, out of the apartment. Investigators determined the fire was caused by a child playing with a lighter. A number of elderly residents were examined for possible smoke inhalation, but no serious injuries were reported.
