Nebraska State Troopers Seize 381 Pounds Of Marijuana In Two Traffic Stops

Two large marijuana busts by the Nebraska State Patrol were made in Hamilton County within minutes of each other on Wednesday. Troopers arrested two men and seized 381 pounds of marijuana during the two traffic stops.

The first stop occurred at approximately 4:32 Wednesday afternoon after a trooper stopped a GMC Yukon for speeding on Highway 14 in Aurora. The trooper determined there was cause to search the vehicle and during the search, 326 pounds of marijuana and 1.4 pounds of marijuana edibles were discovered. The driver, 36 year old Larry Guieb of Indiana, was arrested on charges of Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Deliver and No Drug Tax Stamp.

Just a few minutes later, at 4:36 PM, a driver failed to signal while on eastbound I-80 near Giltner. Troopers pulled the Nissan Rogue over and during the traffic stop an NSP K9 detected the presence of drugs. A search of the SUV revealed 55 pounds of marijuana inside. This driver, 51 year old John Young of California, was also arrested on charges of Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Deliver and No Drug Tax Stamp.

The 381 pounds combined have an estimated street value of $1.14 million. Both men are being held in the Hamilton County Jail.
