It has now been four days since anyone has seen 34 year old Camisha Hollis and Omaha Police say they still have grave concerns for her safety.
Police Captain Michele Bang says the department is working hard to locate the missing mother of three. "We do believe she's in danger or may even be deceased. We're hoping that's not the case, but we have a lot of resources being deployed on this."
Hollis was reported missing on Monday after her three children were found home alone. Bang says they are asking citizens to keep their eyes open for Hollis or her red Hyundai Elantra with Nebraska plate VSF459. "If you're in parking lots, or there's a field or somewhere where people might hide stuff, or park a car, a dump area, we're asking those folks to keep a look out for anything suspicious."
Family members, including Hollis' mother Martha, say domestic violence was always a part of the couple's eighteen year relationship. "I'm thinking before this even happened, she was getting out of the relationship and I think this probably escalated what happened." Elizabeth Power with the Women's Center for Advancement tells NewsRadio 1110 KFAB that it can be incredibly dangerous for women who try to leave abusive relationships. "Statistics tell us that domestic violence is actually the third leading cause of death for women in the United States. That's behind heart disease and cancer."
Hollis' live-in boyfriend, and father of their daughters, was arrested on Tuesday on a number of charges including Child Abuse by Neglect.
