Former Husker great Dave Humm has died from complications related to multiple sclerosis according to a tweet from Kent Pavelka . Humm was 65 years old and is in the books as one of the greatest Nebraska passing quarterbacks in program history.
Humm starred for the Huskers in the early 1970s. He had been affected by MS since the late 1980s. Pavelka first reported the news Wednesday afternoon.
The Las Vegas native was an All-American quarterback in high school at Bishop Gorman. He went on to be a three-year starter for the Huskers. Humm was a second-team All-American in 1974.
Humm was part of Nebraska’s 1971 national championship team led by Bob Devaney. He was the team’s starting QB from 1972-74.
The Oakland Raiders drafted Humm in Round 5 of the 1975 NFL Draft. He played for the Raiders from 1975-79. Humm went on to play for the Bills and Colts, and later, the Los Angeles Raiders.
