Parents Of Girl Killed In Iowa Bus Fire Believe Driver Was Unfit

The parents of a girl who was killed in a Southwest Iowa school bus fire say they believe the bus driver was not fit to do the job.

Glen and Natalie Klindt say school officials should not have allowed 74 year old Donnie Hendricks to drive the school bus because of physical limitations. Both Hendricks and sixteen year old Megan Klindt were killed in the December 12th fire.

The Klindt's are hoping for stricter school bus regulations, saying that Hendricks wasn't able to walk without the assistance of a walker. They say Hendricks was scheduled to have back surgery the same week the bus caught fire, showing that he was not physically able to perform his job duties.

Iowa school bus drivers are required to undergo physicals, but their endurance isn't measured.
