Father Of Five Gunned Down In Capital City Homicide

A Lincoln father of five is dead after a Monday afternoon shooting in the Capital City.

Lincoln Police officials say 22 year old Edgar Union Jr. was shot just before 2:00 at a home near 47th and Stockwell in the College View area. Authorities say when officers arrived, they found Union suffering from a gunshot wound. Lincoln Fire and Rescue crews pronounced Union dead shortly after arriving on the scene.

Investigators say they believe Union and the person who shot him knew each other and this was not a random act. Authorities say there is no ongoing threat to the general public. According to Lincoln Public Schools, four schools went into lockout immediately after the shooting, including Calvert Elementary, Zeman Elementary, Pound Middle School, and Southeast High School.

Anyone with additional information regarding this investigation is encouraged to call the Lincoln Police Department at 402-441-6000 or Crime Stoppers at 402-475-3600.
