Nebraska native Danny Woodhead has announced he will be retiring from the NFL after being released by the Baltimore Ravens earlier this week.
The 33 year old announced his retirement on his Instagram account Friday night, saying in part, "10 years! Wow, God had crazy plans for a small little kid from North Platte, NE! It's been a wild ride and feel so blessed He allowed me to do what I loved for so long. But now it's time to say goodbye to the game I love."
Woodhead started his NFL career with the New York Jets after going undrafted in 2008. He would spend two years with the Jets on the injured reserve and practice squad before playing in a regular season game. Woodhead would then go on to spend two seasons with the New England Patriots, seeing action in a Super Bowl game in 2012. The next four seasons would be spent in sunny California with the San Diego Chargers before heading to Baltimore to finish up his career.
Woodhead closes out his career with 5,694 all-purpose yards and 32 touchdowns.
