A judge on Thursday set bond at $1 million for a 14-year-old boy accused in the shooting death of 17 year old Zachary Parker.
Prosecutors say Tyon Wells will be tried as an adult. He is charged with one count of 2nd-Degree Murder, two counts Use of a Weapon to Commit a Felony and one count 2nd Degree Assault. A 15-year-old is charged with Conspiracy to Distribute Marijuana in connection to the case.
The shooting happened during a botched drug deal Sunday afternoon near 25th and Crown Point Avenue. "It appears to just be a marijuana deal that went bad for lack of a better term," said Douglas County Attorney Don Kleine. "Tyon Wells allegedly pulled the gun out and fired three shots into the car."
Parker and another wounded teen drove to Blackburn High School near 26th and Hamilton where police and paramedics found them. Parker died at the hospital. 17 year old Devon Darnell was treated at the hospital and released.
