Reaction to Spacey's Video

CELEBRITIES REACT TO KEVIN SPACEY'S 'CREEPY' VIDEO AS NEW EVIDENCE EMERGES

The teen who was allegedly sexually assaulted by Kevin Spacey filmed part of the attack on Snapchat, Massachusetts State Police say.

The son of former Boston news anchor Heather Unruh told police that he sent a video of the Oscar winner groping him to his girlfriend as proof of the attack, according to reports.

“The drinks continued constantly through the whole night. Things started to get a little fuzzy when [Unruh’s son] and Spacey went over to the piano,” Trooper Gerald F. Donovan wrote in the report. “[Unruh’s son] said he had at least four or five beers before Spacey said they should switch to whiskey adding, ‘Let’s get drunk.’ ”

“[Unruh’s son] said the whole thing was embarrassing and has not had a ‘profound emotional effect’ on him. [He] told his friends about it and makes jokes about it because that is his way,” the report said.

REACTIONS TO CHRISTMAS VIDEO

Meanwhile, Hollywood stars are taking note of Spacey’s recent work, but the reception has been overwhelmingly negative. Spacey released a bizarre video in the wake of being charged with sexual assault on Christmas Eve, in character as the homicidal politician Frank Underwood.

Spacey played Underwood in Netflix’s House of Cards, until he was fired following 30+ accusations of sexual misconduct. He now faces a felony charge stemming from the alleged 2016 attack on Unruh's son.

In the three-minute video he says, in part: "They’re just dying for me to declare that everything said was true and that I got what I deserved. Wouldn’t that be easy? If it was all so simple? You and I both know it’s never that simple, not in politics and not in life."

Fellow actors and directors have reacted with disgust. #MeToo activist Alyssa Milano deemed the video “creepy,” while Ellen Barkin said it was “very disturbing.”

No matter what the reaction is, Spacey is—for the first time since the scandal broke—drawing in the viewers. Two days after it went up, the video had more than 4.5 million views (and is now over 8 million views as of Friday morning).
