A fireball isn't something you generally hope to see in the night sky over you home. But that's what illuminated the sky over Missouri and neighboring states Monday night.
The American Meteor Society said witnesses submitted more than 340 reports of the fireball-- most were in Missouri, but others came from folks in Kansas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Illinois, Iowa, Indiana, and Nebraska.
The group said there was visible fragmentation in the fireball, indicating its velocity was low and it went through the atmosphere.
