The Most Anticipated Movies of 2019

It is OFFICIALLY 2019 and I have poured over the movies coming out this year, and created a list of the five most anticipated movies coming in 2019.  CLICK HERE for a more comprehensive list.

One of the three best animated Disney movies gets the "live action" treatment.  An astounding voice cast is headlined by Beyonce, Donald Glover, James Earl Jones, John Oliver, and Seth Rogen.  Jon Favreau (Elf, Iron Man) directs the creative retelling of Hamlet this time around.  The first trailer is a shot for shot remake of the original 1994 trailer.  Two more Disney remakes drop in 2019 (Aladdin and Dumbo), but this is by far the one I'm most looking forward to.

The Lion King (2019) is in theaters July 19th.

4. - TOY STORY 4

Buzz, Woody, and Friends return eight years after the original Toy Story saga was thought to be over and done with.  Tim Allen and Tom Hanks return to their iconic action figure roles in what is being billed as a story with the same amount of emotion as the third movie.  Seriously, if you didn't cry during that movie you might not have a soul.  We've seen a couple teaser trailers introduce some new characters, so it'll be interesting to see where this story takes us.

Toy Story 4 hits theaters June 21st.

3. - US

Jordan Peele returns to direct another horror story after winning an Academy Award for his debut film, Get Out.  Peele has already announced that this film is more of a typical horror film than Get Out.  The trailer is terrifying!  Peele has also given out a list of films to watch ahead of time, as "Us" will have what the director calls "a similar language" to the following movies: The Birds, The Shining, Funny Games, Dead Again, The Sixth Sense, The Strangers, and more.  Jordan Peele knows his scary movies and I for one can not wait to see what he unleashes on us this time.

Us hits theaters on March 15th.

When we last saw our heroes, fans were complaining on the internet because it wasn't what they envisioned the movie being while sitting in their mother's basement.  It was a pretty good movie with a samurai/western vibe that, yes, felt different than previous movies.  You don't always get what you want, let the grown ups tell the story, you sit and watch.  This will certainly be the last episodic Star Wars movie for some time.  When Disney acquired the Star Wars franchise three sequels and three separate anthology movies were announced.  We've gotten two of each.  2020 will see the last of the initially announced side stories.  I'm excited to see how this saga ends.

Star Wars: Episode IX hits theaters December 20th.

The, easily, most anticipated movie of the year will also become the highest grossing movie of all-time. heard it here first.  The fourth movie from Disney on this list.  Side note: They're set to have the biggest year for any studio in the history of the world.  So...maybe buy some Disney stock?  The final movie in the Avengers Quadrilogy finishes the events from 2018's Avengers: Infinity War.  We know not everyone is coming back from that Thanos snap.  I'm not sure I'm ready for the emotional punch this movie will be sporting.

Avengers: Endgame hits theaters April 26th.
