(Iowa) -- Iowa is one of the best states for disaster preparedness, according to a national study.

A survey by SmileHub ranks Iowa 12th overall for it's disaster preparedness.

And while the state is second in the nation for the number of police and fire stations, it ranks near the bottom for physicians per capita.

States were also judged by risk and damage assessments and budgets for emergency management.
