Man In Custody After Standoff With Omaha Police

A man is in custody after a hours long standoff with Omaha Police that ended early Friday morning.

Dozens of officers surrounded a home near 42nd and H Streets just before midnight. Someone called 911 around that time to report a disturbance inside a bar. Police are trying to determine if shots had been fired.

Sergeant Jay Leavitt told 6 News they found the man at a house next to the bar. Tear gas was fired into the house around 3:30 a.m. and officers stormed inside and brought the man out in handcuffs.

He was taken to the hospital due to the gas exposure. His name has not been released. Police are still sorting out the details.
