Omaha Man Gets Prison Time For Killing Two Dogs

An Omaha man is headed to prison for starving his two dogs and then throwing their bodies down an embankment.

44 year old Shane Palmer was sentenced to 15 months in prison Wednesday for felony animal neglect. The investigation began in January when the Nebraska Humane Society found the bodies of two pit bulls in a ravine close to Palmer's home near 16th and Evans streets.

Mark Langan with the Nebraska Humane Society says the pit bulls died of starvation and hypothermia.

"To allow an animal to starve to death is cruel," Judge Retelsdorf said as she handed down the sentence.
