Omaha Police Arrest Man In Double Murder

Police have arrested a man in connection with the shooting death of two people in a northeast Omaha home.

20 year old Nyir Kuek was booked into Douglas County Corrections on two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of the use of a weapon to commit a felony.

Police say 57 year old Michael Sykora and 50 year old Tracy Atkins were found dead by officers as they investigated a shots fired call at 12:03 a.m. Tuesday at a home near Northridge Drive and Ida in the Florence area.

Neighbors in the area said police started knocking on doors around 1 a.m. asking whether anyone had information.

"Our neighborhood is a little more subdued and quiet," neighbor Christopher Philip told 6 News. "The worst that we'll have is an occasional domestic despute or we'll have speeders coming through."
