Presidential Locomotive 4141 Rolls Into Metro

Locomotive 4141, Union Pacific's train that carried former President George H.W. Bush to his burial, rolled into Omaha on Sunday. Crowds gathered near T.D. Ameritrade Park to get a glimpse of the historic engine.

The locomotive was named in honor of the late 41st president and carried his body from Spring, Texas to College Station where he was buried.

In 2005, the Bush Presidential Library went to Union Pacific and asked them for some help with a transportation exhibit, so the locomotive was painted red, white and blue and donned with painted flags to honor the president.

Shortly after, Union Pacific senior vice president  Scott Moore says the Bush family asked if the locomotive could carry his casket to be buried when the time came. "The 4141 funeral train was planned for more than a decade. This event took about 48 hours to plan, not knowing what was going to happen, so it was great and very heartwarming to see our home town show up to see this little locomotive here, 4141."

It pulled into downtown Omaha  shortly after 2:00 and was greeted by thousands of waiting people and will remain downtown for viewing until 12:00 Wednesday afternoon.
