Family Of Five Escapes Burning Council Bluffs Home

An early morning fire forced a Council Bluffs family from their home.  A passerby spotted the flames coming from the house near Bluffs Street and Willow Avenue around 5:30 a.m.

It took about 15 minutes to bring the fire under control, but the house sustained heavy damage. There were no reports of any injuries.   One of the family's two cats died in the fire.

The cause of the fire is not yet known.  The Red Cross is now assisting the family.
