,U.S. Senator Ben Sasse will be hosting an Agriculture Roundtable with USDA Under Secretary for Trade and Foreign Agricultural Affairs Ted McKinney and some of Nebraska’s key agriculture leaders. Prior to the Under Secretary’s confirmation, Senator Sasse received a commitment from Mr. McKinney to come to Nebraska.
“Nebraskans know ag and trade,” said Senator Sasse. “That’s why, before his nomination, the Under Secretary gave me his word to come to Nebraska and talk with us directly. The uncertainty and scapegoating of trade deals like NAFTA is alarming to Nebraskans – especially our farmers and ranchers. I’m looking forward to an open and honest conversation on Wednesday.”
“Senator Sasse is bringing the Under Secretary to Nebraska in the latest of his high-level trade meetings this year and the Nebraska Farm Bureau is proud to work together to make sure that Nebraskans have a seat at the table,” said Nebraska Farm Bureau President Steve Nelson. “60,000 Nebraska Farm Bureau families know how critical trade is. Common-sense trade policies make for strong agriculture and a strong Nebraska.”
The Sasse Agriculture Roundtable will feature Senator Sasse, USDA Under Secretary McKinney and Nebraska agriculture leaders. It will be held April 4th in Omaha.
