Nebraska- Japan trade Partnership Remains Strong

posted by Karla James -

Today, Governor Pete Ricketts held a press conference with Naoki Ito, Consul-General of Japan in Chicago to highlight the significance of the trade relationship and partnerships between Nebraska and Japan.

Japan is Nebraska’s largest direct international investor and the third largest importer of Nebraska products.  Investments from Kawasaki, Kewpie, Marubeni, Itochu, NTT, and numerous others have created thousands of job opportunities for Nebraskans across the state.  This September, Nebraska will have the honor of hosting the 50th anniversary joint meeting of the Midwest U.S. – Japan Association in Omaha.  During the press conference, Governor Ricketts presented Consul-General Ito with an admiralship in the Great Navy of the State of Nebraska to honor the great relationship between Nebraska and Japan.
