The Nebraska Farm Bureau will hold their Centennial Celebration at the Weborg 21 Centre in Gering on June 8th. The celebration will feature farmers, ranchers and agricultural dignitaries who will pay tribute to the 100th anniversary of the largest general farm - ranch organization in the state.
President Steve Nelson will say a few words about the history of Nebraska Farm Bureau and how it expanded its influence through a greater presence in policy, programs and activities. The event will highlight long standing members.
As part of honoring the past, renowned Nebraska sculptor Sondra l. Jonson of Carribridge will showcase a replica of a cast bronze gas-relief sculpture she created to mark the centennial. The sculpture, in the shape of the State of Nebraska, includes the many landscapes and crops found across the state.
Looking to the future, the Nebraska Farm Bureau Foundation announced the Cornerstone Campaign. "Celebrating Our Past, Building Our Future" is the theme of the fundraising campaign to provide a financial foundation to its programs that promote an understanding of and appreciation for Nebraska agriculture.
The Weborg 21 Centre is located at 2625 20th Street in Gering. The celebration runs from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
