As I've said 1000 times I am not a fan of gambling because I don't like losing money. That being said I do believe that sports gambling should be considered in Nebraska. There is a lot of money there for the taking. SEE STORY HERE
To me sports gambling gives the participant a lot more control over their choices because they are able to pick their games based on their knowledge and what an individual determines gives them the best chance to win. Casino games are fun and do take some skill but they seem to limit a person's choice since you play a certain game game and you can't really set your own standards. In sports you have a lot more latitude, at least as far as I can see.
Nebraskans are knowledgeable sports fans; it's a good fit.
I'm not basing this on money that could be collected in taxes. Politicians will find ways to blow that money like they do everything else. I don't expect a sports gambling "windfall" to the State to bring Nebraskans the tax relief that this State needs but; I believe it could hopefully hold off future tax hikes... at least for a while.
Nebraska already has limited gambling. I think the moral question has already been ask and answered; we need to admit it.
