Tense moments Tuesday for law enforcement in Washington County.

Sheriff's Deputies were doing a welfare check on a man southwest of Herman and south of County Road P-4 when they saw a man in body armor and armed with a rifle.

The County Sheriff's Tactical team was called in, and during efforts to talk to the man, investigators say he fired multiple rounds three times.

Eventually, the man surrendered and was taken in for a mental health evaluation.

No injuries were reported.
