(Cedar Rapids, IA) -- A former Cedar Rapids hospital employee, who wrongfully accessed and shared her ex-boyfriend's medical records has been sentenced to five years probation. Forty-one-year-old Jennifer Bacor, of Las Vegas, Nevada has also been ordered to pay a $1,000 fine. District Court Judge C.J. Williams has also restricted Bacor from employment in which she would have access to private medical records.

Bacor accepted a plea deal in which she admitted she was a patient care tech at a Cedar Rapids hospital, and used her credentials to access her ex-boyfriend's records, then took a picture of a medical photograph that showed one of her ex-boyfriend's injuries and sent the picture to a third person. The third person then shared the photo on social media, adding taunting comments and emojis. She received probation after pleading guilty to one count of wrongfully obtaining individually identifiable health information under false pretenses.

Judge Williams said Bacor had "weaponized" her ex-boyfriend's private medical information.
