The bridge collapse Tuesday forces Douglas County to issue an emergency road closure on 36th Street near Ponca Road.
No injuries reported;
County engineers say the bridge and culvert were constructed in 1972.
Nearby resident Jonathan White tells 6 News he drives 36th Street several times daily.
“Yeah, it’s scary; I wouldn’t want to be driving down that hill on an icy morning; You know, you can slide down that hill pretty easy,” White said.
“Lucky that it went down when there wasn’t any snow out here because somebody could have very easily slid down into that, you know.”
The County says it will take several months to design and replace the span.
