County Health Department launches mental health initiative amid pandemic

The stresses of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic are taking their toll on people's mental health and local health leaders want to normalize getting treatment.

So, the Douglas County Health Department is teaming up with community partners to launch a mental health care initiative with the goals of normalizing mental health care and expanding awareness of treatment options.

Health Director Dr. Adi Pour says the entire community has been under extreme stress from the COVID-19 outbreak. “There is no better time to normalize mental health care.” She adds that mental and behavioral health issues are real, so there should be no stigma attached to seeking care. She says no one should suffer in silence.
