Man Dead After Officer Involved Shooting In Central Nebraska

A 28 year old man is dead after being shot by law enforcement during a standoff Monday morning near Arnold, Nebraska.

The Nebraska State Patrol assisted the Custer County Sheriff's Office with the standoff early Monday morning.

The patrol says when their negotiators arrived, they began communicating with 28-year-old Print Zutavern.

According to investigators, Zutavern had threatened his father with a gun, shot and killed several animals and threatened officers earlier in the day.

After a warrant was issued on a variety of charges the patrol says Zutavern attempted to leave his property in a UTV.

Zutavern was blocked by troopers who gave loud commands for him to put his hands up. Zutavern reportedly moved aggressively towards the troopers instead of following commands.

The patrol says a trooper then fired his weapon, striking Zutavern. He was transported to the hospital but later died from his injuries. No law enforcement officials were injured during the incident.
