Bond Set For Omaha Man Accused Of Starving Two Pit Bulls

A judge on Wednesday set bond at $7,500 for 43 year old Shane Palmer, who was arrested in connection with the deaths of his two Pit Bulls. He's accused of abandonment and cruelty by neglect and faces up to two years in prison if convicted.

Prosecutors say the dead dogs were found in a ravine near Palmer's home near 14th and Evans on January 9th. A microchip led investigators to Palmer who was arrested after trying to flee from officers.

A necropsy showed that the dogs died of starvation and hypothermia. They also showed signs of frost bite. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for March 11th.
