Settlement Reached In Death Of OPS Student Hit By School Bus

A settlement has been reached for the family of an OPS student hit and killed by his school bus. 

National Interstate Insurance has reportedly agreed to settle with the parents of eight year old Haji Mohamed for more than $263,000. Through the settlement, the insurance company will still deny any liability in the boy's death.

Omaha Police say on April 9, 2018, the bus stopped to let Mohamed and several other students off the bus. As the driver resumed her westbound route, Mohamed attempted to run across the street ahead of the bus. the boy was hit by the bus, fatally injuring the Springville Elementary School student.

Prosecutors chose not to file any charges against the bus driver after determining there was no criminal wrongdoing.
