Bond Set At $3 Million For Suspect Accused Of Shooting Police Officer

Bond was set Friday at $3 million for John Ezell Jr., accused of Attempted Murder and a string of other charges linked to an officer-involved shooting in September.

Officer Kenneth Fortune was shot in the shoulder by Ezell when Fortune approached a vehicle during a traffic stop on September 11th. Fortune has been released from the hospital and is back on duty.

Ezell, was released from the hospital earlier this week and booked on the Attempted Murder charge as well as First Degree Assault on an Officer, two counts of Use of a Firearm to Commit a Felony and Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person.

Prosecutors asked for $2 million bond Friday. The judge set it at $3 million.

Ezell's preliminary hearing has been scheduled for October 28th
