25 Years of Demolition Man

One of the five best "So Good They're Bad" movies ever is Demolition Man which celebrates its 25th anniversary today.  The 1993 futuristic action thriller starred Sylvester Stallone as a cop who cryogenically froze himself to catch a terrorist (Wesley Snipes) who did the same to elude the law.

The awake in the year 2032.  Things have changed.  As you'd expect.  Sandra Bullock shows Stallone around and adapts him to the new time period.  All restaurants have closed (except Taco Bell).  Swearing has been outlawed.  Oh yeah, and Bullock might be Stallone's granddaughter.  But the movie doesn't really answer that question.

Demolition Man is great, and terrible, and fun, and weird all at the same time.  It deserves to be recognized as a classic in many ways.  This was Stallone at the peak of his powers.  Early 90s Stallone could do no wrong.  Snipes was just coming off of White Men Can't Jump, Passenger 57, and Rising Sun.  The year AFTER Demolition Man, Bullock would star in a little film called "Speed".
