No One Injured In South Omaha Boarding House Fire

No one was injured after a fire broke out in a boarding house near 22nd St. Sunday afternoon.   Firefighters were initially told there were people trapped inside the home, but discovered everyone was out of the building upon arrival.

That was a huge sense of relief for firefighters who battled a deadly boarding house fire in the same area four years ago.  Two people were killed that day.  One person in this afternoon's fire was treated for breathing problems.

Fire officials believe the fire started in the basement. There is considerable damage in the basement and on the first floor.   The home has 16 units and 14 residents were home at the time of the fire. A few of them say they lost all of their belongings.

The American Red Cross was on-hand providing food and water to the displaced residents.
