Two Injured In Crash With City Truck

Two people were seriously injured after their car collided with a City of Omaha maintenance truck near 102nd and West Maple around 10:30 Wednesday morning.

Investigators say a 2016 Ford Focus was eastbound on West Maple approaching the 102nd Street intersection when a City of Omaha Public Works 2008 Sterling maintenance vehicle turned from westbound Maple to southbound 102nd. The vehicles collided in the intersection.

Several witnesses told investigators that the Ford had a green light. The driver, 48 year old Lori Schuman of Omaha, suffered leg and arm injuries.  The front seat passenger, 14 year old Joshua Schuman, was treated for bumps and lacerations to the head.

The Public Works employee, 36 year old Jonathan Fouraker, was not injured.  Police say neither speed nor alcohol were factors in the crash.   The investigation is on-going.
