Colorado Man Injured In Overnight Crash

A Colorado man is in an Omaha hospital after an early morning crash on Saturday. 

Omaha Police say 23 year old Joshua Whatley, of Colorado Springs, was driving his Subaru Legacy westbound in the eastbound lanes of Dodge Street near 44th Street. An eastbound driver in a Dodge Dart attempted to swerve and miss the Subaru but clipped the Legacy, causing the Dodge to lose a rear tire. Whatley's Subaru then hit an eastbound Cadillac CTS head-on. the impact cause major damage to the front ends of both cars. 

Whatley was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash and was transported to Nebraska Medicine for what is believed to be a non-life threatening head injury. A passenger in the Cadillac suffered a swollen hand, but refused treatment. No one else was injured in the incident.  

Alcohol is believed to a factor and DUI charges are pending against Whatley. The crash remains under investigation.
