Haley: Jerusalem Declaration Helps Peace Negotiations

24/7 News Source — U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley is defending President Trump's decision to declare Jerusalem the capital of Israel.

"In Jerusalem, you've got the Parliament, you've got the President, you've got the Prime Minister, you've got the Supreme Court, so why shouldn't we have the embassy there?" she said on CNN's "State of the Union."

Haley tells CNN that in time, the move will prove to be the right decision.

The former South Carolina governor says "when you make a decision, you're going to have some that see it negatively and some that see it positively."

But the ambassador added she strongly believes "this is going to move the ball forward for the peace process." Last week, Trump said the U.S. would recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital.

Additionally, Trump says the U.S. will move its embassy to Jerusalem from Tel Aviv.
