Robbery Suspect Injured By Gunfire In Afternoon Pursuit

Omaha Police say a robbery suspect was injured by gunfire after a Monday afternoon chase through parts of South Omaha.

Deputy Chief Dave Baker says a call came in just after 2:30 of a robbery at the Bucky's gas station on 24th and Martha.

Baker says the suspect, a 31 year old white male, was possibly involved in an accident after the robbery. He says the suspect then went to the area of 50th and Farnam and stole an F-150 pickup truck.

Officers were made aware of the suspect stealing the pickup, spotted the man and called in the Omaha Police helicopter, Able1.

Baker says Able1 followed the suspect as he made his way to the area of 26th and Rees just before 4:30. "He stopped the stolen vehicle, and subsequent to stopping the vehicle, officers arrived on scene. There were shots fired, he was transported to UNMC."

No OPD officers were injured in the incident.

The investigation is ongoing.
