Omaha Police Officer Injured In Car Accident

An Omaha Police Officer is recovering after a Thursday morning accident.

Omaha Police say Officer Robert Alexander was on his way to a call near 117th and Valley just after 10:00.

Alexander was turning onto northbound 120th from L Street after it appeared all vehicles had stopped to allow him to go.

Authorities say while Alexander was in the intersection, he was hit by a westbound Chevy Impala.

Officer Alexander was taken to Nebraska Medicine by another police vehicle for treatment of minor injuries.

The Impala driver was taken to CHI Bergan Mercy Medical Center for injuries sustained when the airbag deployed.

The crash remains under investigation.
