Horse Honoring Fallen Omaha Officer Has New Home

It has been nearly two years since Omaha Police Officer Kerrie Orozco was shot and killed in the line of duty. Dr. Mike Wagner and his team at Creighton University Medical Center worked to save her life that day.

On Tuesday Dr. Wagner was on hand as a life-size horse commemorating the life of Orozco arrived at it's new home, the lobby of Creighton University Medical Center's new location at Bergan Mercy.

CHI Health sponsored the 130-pound horse, which was part of a memorial for fallen police officers called Horses of Honor. The eight horses were on display at Midtown Crossing over the past year and are being delivered to their permanent homes this week.

Orozco was shot in the line of duty in May 2015.  "It was a very hard day for us," an emotional Dr. Wagner says. Seeing this horse will show the dedication of hard work that everybody provided.  All fought valiantly to save her life."

In June the Creighton Trauma Center will move to it's new home near 75th and Mercy Road.
