The Nebraska Public Power District moved to "Emergency Level 3" Wednesday morning.
That means the "rolling blackouts" will again be conducted throughout the N-P-P-D service area with power being out for 45 minutes or longer in various locations until further notice.
N-P-P-D, along with the Omaha Public Power District, are part of the "Southwest Power Pool," which has been mandating member utilities at different times execute "rolling blackouts" to equalize loads in response to massive, storm-related power problems in Texas.
At this time, O-P-P-D says there are no current requirements for controlled outages, but it's a very fluid situation, and they could be directed by the pool to implement outages with very little advance notice.
