An Omaha elementary school principal accused of not reporting sexual abuse by a teacher has resigned.
Prosecutors say witnesses told Fontenelle Elementary School Principal Eric Nelson that teacher, Greg Sedlacek had improper contact with a 7 year old student last November but did nothing about it and did not report it to authorities.
Nelson is charged with felony child abuse. He was placed on administrative leave before resigning.
A court date has not been set but Nelson will stand trial in district court.
The Omaha Public School District has found Nelson's replacement. Heather Rodgers will head the school pending the school board's approval. Rodgers is from Wichita, Kansas and is set to start the post on August 1st.
