Cops Climb Rooftops For Good Cause

It was a soggy Friday morning for Omaha police officers, who climbed on top of the roofs of metro area Dunkin' Donut shops to help raise money for Special Olympics.

The 2nd annual "Cop on a Rooftop" fundraiser supports the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics.  With rain falling most of the morning, officers spent five hours on top of the local donut stores.

Every customer who made a donation received a coupon for a cup of coffee.  The company also donated $1,000 to the Law Enforcement Torch Run.

Cop on a Rooftop is a way for me to show my support for Special Olympics Nebraska,” says Omaha Police Detective Justin Rudloff. “These athletes are some of the most dedicated and determined people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting, and their message of hope and inclusion is something we should all try and emulate.”

Special Olympics Nebraska serves over 6,000 individuals ages 8 and older across the state. Its mission is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, give them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy, and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills, and friendships with their families, and other Special Olympics athletes and the community.
