Nebraska, which has won four of its last six games following an 0-4 Big Ten start, has climbed to eighth place and is just one-half game out of sixth place entering this week’s action. Nebraska has been relying on its sophomore class, as Terran Petteway, Walter Pitchford, Shavon Shields and Benny Parker combined for 46 of the Huskers’ 53 points against Northwestern. While Petteway has been one of the Big Ten’s top newcomers and ranks fourth in the conference at 17.5 points per game, Pitchford has developed into a consistent scoring option in recent games. The 6-foot-10 forward has been in double figures in each of the last four contests, including a career-high 15 points against the Wildcats.

Illinois (14-10, 3-8 Big Ten) looks for its second straight win following a 60-55 win at Penn State on Sunday. The Fighting Illini, who broke an eight-game losing streak, also features one of the Big Ten’s top newcomers in junior guard Rayvonte Rice, as he tops the squad with 16.5 points and a 6.0 rebounds per game.
