Community activist Preston Love, Jr. says that Omaha is like Ferguson, Missouri in that only about eight percent of black voters showed up at polls in the most recent city elections in both cities.  He believes that lack of voter participation means that the African-American community does not control who their elected leaders are and that lack of black representation could contribute to the troubles that have occurred in Ferguson.

Love is coordinating a North Omaha Community Voter Rally on Saturday, August 30th, at FontenellePark from 9:30 to 12 Noon. Praise and worship music, prayers, meet and greets with candidates, and refreshments are planned for the rally.
