One person killed, one injured in Sunday afternoon crash

(Omaha, NE) -- A 25 year old man is killed in a Sunday afternoon crash.

Omaha Police say just after 1:00 Sunday afternoon, officers were called to the area of 72nd and Military for a three-vehicle crash. OPD says their investigation showed that a Chevy Tahoe was westbound on Military Ave when a Nissan Altima turned wide onto westbound Military, failing to yield to the Chevy. The Chevy Tahoe hit the Nissan on the driver's side and both vehicles then hit a Chevy Silverado which was stopped in the turn lane for southbound 72nd.

Police say the unrestrained driver of the Nissan, 25 year old Romello Thomas, was taken to Nebraska Medicine with serious injuries where he died shortly after going into surgery. The driver of the Chevy Tahoe, 20 year old Kendall Leavy, was transported to Immanuel with a leg injury. The Silverado driver and passenger were uninjured.
