Two women arrested after hundreds of pills found during I-80 traffic stop

(Hamilton County, NE) -- Two Pennsylvania women are behind bars in Nebraska after hundreds of pills are found during a traffic stop on I-80 in Hamilton County.

The Nebraska State Patrol says around 6:30 Tuesday night, a trooper spotted a Mercedes sedan driving at over 100 miles per hour on I-80 near Aurora and pulled the vehicle over. Investigators say during the traffic stop, the trooper detected the odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. The NSP says during a search of the vehicle, over 500 Oxycodone pills, more than 80 Adderall pills, over 60 Alprazolam pills, 20 ounces of liquid Codeine, and a half pound of marijuana were found. Troopers also located a handgun.

The driver, 21 year old Lydia Newton of Vanderbilt, Pennsylvania, and passenger, 22 year old Kayla Knabenshue of Mount Braddock, Pennsylvania, were arrested for possession of controlled substances, possession with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and other charges. Newton was also cited for no operators’ license and speeding.
