(Omaha, NE) -- The 18 year old charged in connection to the shooting death of his friend is released from jail.

Millard West student Blake Miller appeared before a Douglas County judge Wednesday morning where he was released on his own recognizance. Prosecutors say Miller accidentally shot 18-year-old Ralston High School senior Tanner Farrell Saturday night at a home near 161st and Harrison.

Douglas County Attorney Don Klein says Miller told him he'd been drinking that night and pulled out a rifle, pointed it at Farrell, and pulled the trigger thinking it wasn't loaded. He has a preliminary hearing scheduled for April 18th. Miller faces up to 20 years in prison.
