(Hamilton County, NE) -- An Arizona man is behind bars in Nebraska after over 30 pounds of methamphetamine are found during a traffic stop.

The Nebraska State Patrol says just after 10:00 Thursday morning, a trooper pulled over a Nissan Altima on eastbound Interstate 80 near Hampton in Hamilton County. During the traffic stop, investigators say the trooper became suspicious of criminal activity and searched the vehicle. During the search, 33 pounds of methamphetamine were found in a duffle bag in the trunk of the vehicle. The NSP says the trooper determined that the methamphetamine was in the possession of a passenger in the car.

The passenger, 39 year old Jared Cain of Phoenix, Arizona, was arrested for possession of methamphetamine, possession with intent to distribute and no drug tax stamp. The driver was released.
