Teen arrested in connection to Gretna armed robbery

(Gretna, NE) -- A 19 year old is arrested in connection to a Tuesday evening armed robbery in Gretna.

The Sarpy County Sheriff's Office says just after 6:30 Tuesday night, deputies were called to McKinney’s Food Center in Gretna for an armed robbery. The sheriff's department says deputies, assisted by Troopers from the Nebraska State Patrol, responded to the scene. Investigators say it was determined that the suspect, entered the Food Center, approached a clerk and brandished a weapon, demanding cash. The sheriff's office says at some point during the robbery, a shot was fired into the ceiling of the Food Center.

Investigators say the suspect, later identified as 19 year old Thunder Carrillo, then exited the store and ran to his vehicle located nearby. With information gathered at the scene, the sheriff's department says Omaha Police was asked to assist and later located the suspect vehicle, which was unoccupied. Investigators say shortly thereafter Carrillo, accompanied by an uninvolved person, approached the suspect vehicle and were detained at the request of the Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office Investigator assigned to the case. The investigation determined that Carrillo was the person responsible for the armed robbery.

Carrillo was arrested for Robbery, Use of a Weapon to Commit a Felony, Criminal Mischief, Terroristic Threats and Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm.
