Omaha man injured in Lincoln shooting succumbs to his injuries

(Lincoln, NE) -- An Omaha man dies from injuries sustained during a weekend shooting in Lincoln.

The Lincoln Police Department says 24 year old Goa Dat suffered multiple gunshot wounds with injuries to the neck and leg during an early Saturday morning shooting on Highway 77. He was treated at a Lincoln hospital before dying from his injuries on Monday. LPD says just after 2:45 Saturday morning, officers were called to a local area hospital after Goa and another victim, a 19 year old man, had arrived by personal vehicle with gunshots wounds. Goa was admitted to the hospital with life threatening injuries and ultimately died. The other victim also suffered multiple gunshot wounds with injuries to the arm and torso. He remains hospitalized in serious condition.

LPD says investigators determined that the victims were the occupants of a car that was northbound on Highway 77 between West A Street and Rosa Parks Way. Police say shots were fired into the vehicle from an unknown source. This is not believed to be a random act of violence and there is no indication that the public is in danger.
