(Council Bluffs, IA) -- The Council Bluffs Police Department announces a new four-legged addition to the squad.

On Wednesday, the department introduced Police Service Dog Houser. CBPD says the new K-9 is a Belgian Malinois from Hungary. Houser is in training with his handler, Officer Klement, and is expected to start his tenure on the force by the end of the year. Houser is named after a local fallen hero, Marine Sergeant Thomas Houser. Sgt Houser was a St. Albert graduate and a U.S. Marine who was killed in action on January 3, 2005 in Iraq.
